Music 23241 Personal Reaction Paper due 9/23/10

Lehman-The Power of the National Standards in Music Education
I think having national standards for music eduation is helpful. I see how it can be stressful to teachers in the schools because they have so much to do but a lot of those standards come naturally in just teaching an ensemble. Such as just playing their instrument or singing, reading and notation, listening, and improv. Some of the standards just come naturally in playing in an ensemble.

Lehman-Ten Years Later
The National Standards have helped improve how teachers teach and how much students learn. I think its great that they are able to improve more and more every year.

Reiner-Reconceiving the Standards
I don not feel like the standards need to be revised or changed or anything. I feel that the standards are doing a good thing in helping students be the best musicians they can be and thats what every teacher wants for there students.
